Closings & Hours Changes

All CCLD Libraries are closed for Memorial Day on May 27th.

Summer hours begin May 25th. May 18th is the last Saturday that Steele & Horseheads will be open until Fall hours begin.

Annual Chess Challenge

Chess ChallengeChemung County Library District's 8th Annual Chess Challenge will be held on Saturday, May 4th at Steele Memorial Library. Although no registration is required, players should arrive early and be ready to challenge an opponent. Games will begin at 8:30am and continue throughout the day. The last game will begin at 3:30. Prizes will be awarded at 4:00. The tournament is free and open to all ages and abilities with prizes being awarded at all levels.

Technology Training at CCLD Libraries

Tech Training Lab

All classes are free and registration is required. To register for Steele classes call 733-9175; for Horseheads classes call 739-4581; for Van Etten classes call 589-4755 x3. All Steele classes take place in the Technology Training Lab.

Dual Extruding 3D Printer

New Dual Extruding 3D Printers

Print with more than one type of filament! The CCLD Makerspace can now print using two types of filament on the same print.

Reserve the Laser Engraver

Use of the Tinker Lab's laser engraver may now be reserved online: https://ccldmakerspace.youcanbook.me/

Drop in appointments are still accepted.

Tinker Lab Hours

Stop by the Tinker Lab to take a class or use the lab equipment independently anytime the lab is open.

Monday - Thursday: 12:00pm - 7:30pm
Friday & Saturday: 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Adult Events @ Steele

Recovery Stories Dinner

On Monday, June 10th, 4:00-6:30pm, members of the community will gather at the Steele Memorial Library to share dinner and stories of personal recovery. This Mental Health Month event will celebrate what is possible in the midst of adversity. Dinner is free and open to anyone; however, registration is a MUST for meal planning. The dinner is a collaborative effort between CCLD and the Social Connection. Call 733-9175 to register.

Elmira Ukulele SocietyElmira Ukulele Society

Join our informal meetup of ukulele players on May 7th, 5-6pm. All abilities welcome (from beginner to advanced). All ages welcome but children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Everyone must have a ukulele. A limited number of ukuleles are available at Steele for check out to STLS cardholders in good standing.

Please call 607-733-9175 to register so we know how many people to expect.

Bookmobile

Do Not Become AlarmedBookmobile will be at Head Start Carnival on May 4th, 11-2pm at EOP on Baldwin St. Join us for some games and prizes.

Our book club meets the 2nd Friday of the month at the Bulkhead stop in Southport at 1:30pm. For the month of April we read "Cutting for Stone" by Abraham Verghese to discuss on May 10th. This month we will read "Do not become alarmed" by Maile Meloy to discuss in June.
