Mark your calendars for the annual Friends book sale! Thousands of books and other items, ranging from $0.50 to $3.00, will be up for grabs (bag sale will be held on February 18th). The sale will be held at the Arnot Mall on two weekends. 
Celebrate Black History Month with us this February by checking out a book from the library and learning more about the achievements and influence of African Americans throughout history. This month at CCLD's Central Branch, Steele Memorial Library, we have chosen to feature the women of African American history on our second floor book display. Also at Steele, on February 27th at 7pm, we will be showing an abridged version of the PBS documentary series "For Love of Liberty: The Story of America's Black Patriots". The series chronicles the contributions of African American servicemen and women from Revolution to Iraq. Stop by any of the branches of Chemung County Library District this month and learn something new about African American history.
The Big Flats Branch of CCLD is looking for local artists (teen or adult) to paint the windows of the Big Flats Library. The artist will be asked to paint seasonal themes, summer reading club themes, and current program themes. If you are interested in volunteering, contact the Big Flats Branch. (607)562-3300
