Warm Up America!

Warm up AmericaCCLD has a Knit and Crochet Club that began about a year ago. They meet every Wednesday at the Central Library from 12:30-2:00pm to share their projects, good conversation and to learn from one another. Now, they’ve come up with an idea to share their talents with the community. They’re participating in Warm Up America!, a national program that distributes warm afghans, caps and other items to needy people. The club members would like to put together afghans and donate to local nursing homes and/or charities but it takes a lot of knitted or crocheted squares to make it happen.  If you are a yarn crafter and would like to make squares to donate, they would appreciate it.  The squares can be any color or design but they have to be 7 X 9 inches in size. The Club will have a box on hand at each of the CCLD libraries to collect the squares. Then they will work together to put the squares together to make afghans. Thanks to the CCLD Knit and Crochet Club, others in Chemung County will stay warm this winter. For more information, call Lucy at 846-2688.
