Closings & Holiday Hours
November 12 - Steele Memorial Library will be open from 10am-6pm; all other CCLD libraries will be closed.
November 16 - All CCLD libraries will be closed for Continuing Education Day.
November 22 - All CCLD libraries will be closed for Thanksgiving.
November 23 - Steele Memorial Library will be open from 9am-5pm; all other CCLD libraries will be closed.
Voting Locations for CCLD Board of Trustees
On Election Day, November 6th, 2018, please visit the Steele Memorial Library (101 E. Church St., Elmira) or the Horseheads Free Library (405 S. Main St., Horseheads) to vote for candidates running in your district for open seats on the Board of Trustees.
Open Seat Districts Are:

7th Town of Elmira
11th City of Elmira
12th Southport
15th Ashland, Wellsburg
Polling Hours are 12 pm to 7 pm.
Technology Training at CCLD Libraries
All classes are free and registration is required. To register for Steele classes call 733-9175; for Horseheads classes call 739-4581; for Van Etten classes call 589-4755 x3. All Steele classes take place in the Technology Training Lab.

Makerspace Certification Classes
To schedule a training session for one of our certification classes (see below), please call 607-733-6809 during the Tinker Lab's open hours, or E-mail us at: labcentral@stls.org.
Digital Media Lab Certification at Steele
Become certified to use the Digital Media Lab - Learn how to record a video, edit the video and use a green screen to add background effects. You must have a parent present if you are under 16. Once you have completed the certification class, you can use the Digital Media Lab at Steele independently.
3D Printer Certification at Steele
Become certified in the use of the 3D printers at the Steele Memorial Library Makerspace. Learn how to change filament in the printers, navigate the display menus, and utilize the slicer software for optimizing your 3D prints. Completion of the certification process will allow you to use the 3D printers independently. Anyone under the age of 16 will be supervised in the use of the 3D printer.
Tinker Lab @ Steele
Stop by the Tinker Lab to take a class or use the lab equipment independently anytime the lab is open.
Tinker Lab Hours
Monday - Thursday: 12:00PM - 7:30PM
Friday & Saturday: 12:00PM - 4:00PM
Laser Engraving Fee
In order to offset maintenance costs, the Tinker Lab will begin charging for use of the Epilog Laser cutter and engraver.
Cost for use of the machine will be $0.05 per minute ($3.00 per hour).
This fee is only applied to use during open lab hours, not during workshops or classes that make use of the laser.

Steele Memorial
Adult Events @ Steele
All ages are invited to attend our International Games Week celebration on November 10th from 11am-4pm. Rainy Toad gaming will be here with video games! We will have board games and giant jenga! For fans of Hearthstone, we will have a Fireside Gathering with prizes provided by Blizzard Entertainment.
Attend a clay sculpting workshop on November 20th with artist Wynn Yarrow. John W. Jones was renowned for his respect and forgiveness, for remembering fallen Civil War soldiers by burying clay pots with their names. In tribute, we will create inscribed clay pots as acts of forgiveness, reconciliation or remembrance.This project is made possible, in part, with public funds from NYSCA's Decentralization Program, administered regionally by The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes.

Turn discarded bicycle parts into a bracelet, necklace, or earrings in this upcycling jewelry workshop. Used bicycle parts are provided by Kingsbury's Cyclery. Space is limited. Call 733-9175 to register. There are two sessions of the workshop available on November 13th at 4pm and 6pm.

Big Flats
It's Fall and that means movie and popcorn time is back!! On November 6, Big Flats Library will show Hotel Transylvania 3 on the big screen. As always popcorn will be served. The movie will start at 6:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, November 13, Big Flats Library will again be making a Noah's Ark Stuffed friend: a gray mouse holding a piece of candy corn. As always this program starts off with a storyhour (Halloween and Thanksgiving stories) followed by creating your new animal. The fun starts at 6:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required due to class size. Register by calling 562-3300 or stop in and sign up in person.

Our book club meets the 2nd Friday of the month at the Bulkhead stop in Southport at 1:30pm. For the month of October we read "The Story of Arthur Truluv" by Elizabeth Berg to discuss on November 9th. This month we will read "The Rooster Bar" by John Grisham to discuss next month on December 14th.

Adult Events @ Horseheads
In November at Horseheads, come and paint/create your own unique gourd birdhouse with Karen Curren owner & instructor of Karen May's Creations! (We will have two separate sessions, one for adults, and one for kids). Also, sign up to learn all about your tablet or smartphone!

Youth Events @ Horseheads
Make a unique birdhouse by painting a gourd. Karen May's Creations will be here to help kids make their own birdhouses. All of the supplies will be provided free of charge. Registration is required due to space limitations. Also, Mickey Mouse is turning 90 this month. Join us to celebrate this milestone for a children's icon.

The Van Etten library is offering a Noah's Ark Build an Animal Workshop. We will be making our very own stuffed Arctic friend, a Snow Leopard.
