Food for Fines: December 20 - January 2

Happy Hogmanay

In the spirit of the Scottish tradition of Hogmanay, the Chemung County Library District will be accepting food for fines from December 20, 2019 to January 2, 2020. Overdue fees up to $20 will be forgiven ($5 per non-perishable food item). Lost or damaged items and collection fees are excluded.

Technology Training at CCLD Libraries

Tech Training Lab

All classes are free and registration is required. To register for Steele classes call 733-9175; for Horseheads classes call 739-4581; for Van Etten classes call 589-4755 x3. All Steele classes take place in the Technology Training Lab.

Tinker Lab @ Steele

Sewing Classes

Stop by the Tinker Lab to take a class or use the lab equipment independently anytime the lab is open.

Tinker Lab Holiday Hours
The Tinker Lab will be closed from 12:00pm to 4:00pm on December 23, 26, 30, and January 2. The Tinker Lab will be open during its normal 4:00pm to 7:30pm hours on these days.

Tinker Lab Closings
The Tinker Lab will be closed December 20, 24, 25, 27, 28, 31 and January 1, 3, and 4.

Laser Certifications
Certification for use of CCLD Makerspace's laser cutter and engraver is now available.

Appointments for certification can be made using the online reservation calendar at:

ccldmakerspace.youcanbook.me

Please place "Certification" in the Project Summary field on the reservation form.

Hot Chocolate

Winter Reading Club for teens starts December 2 and runs through January 4! All 7-12 graders can sign up in person at Steele Library or on our library home page: ccld.lib.ny.us. Log the amount of time you spend reading for prizes. (Read anything you want; school reading and homework counts as reading time, too!). Prizes include hot chocolate vouchers, Lights Bakery cookie coupons, lip balm and more!

Big Flats

On Friday, December 20th from 2-4pm, stop and in and wish Glenny well on her last day before retirement. There will be light refreshments and possibly some tears, but Glenny would love to see you and thank you for being such a great patrons to Big Flats Library.

Where the Crawdads SingBookmobile

Our book club meets the 2nd Friday of the month at the Bulkhead stop in Southport at 1:30pm. For the month of November we read "The friends We Keep" by Jane Green to discuss on December 13th.

This month we will read "Where the Crawdads Sing" by Delia Owens to discuss in January.

Adult Events @ Horseheads

In December at Horseheads, we are having another Gourd birdhouse painting class with Karen Curran, owner of Karen May's Creations! (If you don't get a spot in this class, we will be having more classes next year. Stay tuned)! Enjoy our final art class of the year with Wynn Yarrow; also, come and enjoy our book club meetings!

GingerbreadCelebrate "Gingerbread Season" with us on Tuesday, December 3. We will read the book Gingerbread Friends by Jan Brett. Each child will be able to make a winter friend (choice of moose or reindeer) to take home as well as their own copy of the book.  Registration is required!
