Holiday Closings & Saturday Hours

October 12, Steele will be open 10-6pm; all other branches will be closed.

Starting October 17th, Steele Memorial Library and Horseheads Free Library will be open from 1-5pm on Saturdays.

Empire State Maker FaireEmpire State Maker Faire

Join us for Empire State Maker Faire! The online event will be held Friday, Oct. 16th (9 AM – 5 PM) and Saturday, Oct. 17th (9 AM – 8 PM).

Meet a wide variety of makers from all over the world, with a focus on makers from New York. See demonstrations and performances by makers sharing their craft, or attend one of the how-to workshops.

Empire State Maker Faire is a free event. Access to the Faire on Friday, Oct. 16th will be limited to students, homeschoolers, and youth educators only, with full access to everyone available Saturday, Oct. 17th.

A schedule for each day will be posted on the official Faire website closer to the date of the event. For more information, visit:

CCLD Makerspace is open by appointment for one-hour sessions. Learn more and reserve a time using our booking form at ccldmakerspace.youcanbook.me. Sessions are currently limited to one person per appointment.

All 3D printing orders will be processed online in the order that they are received. To place an order, please fill out the following form: ccldmakerspace.org/3d-printing-request.

CCLD Makerspace continues to offer face shields to local healthcare and emergency response workers free of charge. Visit our website for more information: ccldmakerspace.org.

Spook Stacks "Drive In"

Steele Memorial Library: This Halloween the Children's department at the Steele Memorial Library is hosting a Spooky Drive-In, with treats and a witchy performance you can enjoy from your car. Registration is required, space is limited! (607)733-9174

Big Flats Library: We are holding an in-house "Scavenger hunt"! Kids can search around the stacks for hidden images and then collect a token for the prize machine. This month is a Peanut's Character Hunt! While you are here, sign up for the new Maker Club for Kids and see what fun Maker project you can choose each month.

Stuffed animal workshop

In Celebration of Halloween, the Big Flats Library will be hosting a "Take & Make" Noah's Ark Animal Workshop. Each Teddy "Bat" Bear Kit includes the stuffing, rainbow wish star, birth certificate and carry tote for you to take home. Please call 562-3300 to reserve a kit, available for pick-up with a scheduled appointment only. Supply is limited.

Sugar Skulls

Take & Paint: Dia de Muertos Calaveras de Azucar (sugar skulls). Ages 12+. Check out a kit with a skull to paint, a selection of paint, brushes, and a packet of history and resources on this holiday. E-mail howarde@stls.org to register (required). Kit pick-up will begin Monday, October 19 at Steele Memorial Library.
