Curbside pick-up**Due to the current COVID-19 orange cluster zones, all CCLD libraries have returned to curbside-only service. Please call your local library to make arrangements to pick up your materials. We will remain curbside-only for at least 2 weeks (starting 10/26) or until the current orange zones are downgraded to yellow. Visit our website for more information about curbside pickup.

Board of Trustees Election

The Chemung County Library District would like to remind all Chemung County voters in each of these seven districts- 1st, 5th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 13th, and 14th to please vote at the Steele Memorial Library or the Horseheads Free Library on Election Day Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020 for candidates running for open seats on the Board of Trustees.

Polls are open from 12pm to 7pm.

This is separate from the budget vote which will still be held on Election Day at your normal polling place, as in previous elections. Please remember to turn your ballot over to vote on the CCLD budget proposition.

November Closings

November 6 - All libraries are closed.

November 11 - Steele open 9-5pm; all other libraries are closed.

November 26 & 27 - All libraries are closed.

CCLD Makerspace

CCLD Makerspace continues to offer face shields to individuals, families and businesses in Chemung County. Face shields may be purchased for $2.00 each. There is no cost for local healthcare and emergency response workers. Visit our website for more information: ccldmakerspace.org

Activities for Kids

National Button Day

Register to create a button craft and enjoy a special storytime to celebrate National Button Day on November 16th at 3:30pm! Craft materials are available for registered participants while supplies last. Please call 607-733-9174 to register and schedule curbside pick up from Steele Memorial Library.

Call the Big Flats Library to reserve a Key Chain take & make craft for this month's Kids Maker Club activity: 607-562-3300. Big Flats Library's in-house "Scavenger hunt" will be available once our libraries reopen. November's hunt is a Peanut's Characters Hunt!

Activities for Teens

De-Stress & Read Box

Teens in Chemung County can register to get a ONCE a month De-Stress & Read Box for the Fall Semester 2020. (Note: The number of boxes we can do is limited by budget and supplies).

What's in the box?

1) A calming, fun activity or craft with supplies.
2) A library book checked out to you, selected just for you based on your answers on our registration form.
3) fun swag, as supplies (& our budget) lasts!

How do I register?

Fill out our Google Form OR call the teen space 607-737-5080. We will ask you a bunch of questions that will help us select books and materials that you will like.

When & How do I get my box?

Pick it up at Steele Library during the first week of each month, (Sept/Oct/Nov/Dec), after you register. We will contact you when your box is ready. We will try to have all the boxes ready during the first week of each month. You MUST return the library book and your box in order to get the next month's box.

Sew a Mask

In November at Horseheads, get a Paper House kit and express your unique vision to decorate! Registration is required. Call 739-4581 to register.

Hand sew a mask with artist Filomena Jack on November 17th! Email ManchesterR@stls.org or call the Big Flats Library 562-3300 to sign up, reserve your art supplies kit & receive the Zoom meeting info. All supplies included with free kit. You just pick it up!
