Welcome to the Chemung County Library District

April 2021 Newsletter

Check out our Online Events Calendar to see a list of library events that you can access from home.

Starting April 5th, CCLD will return to our pre-pandemic M-F hours. Visit our website or call your library for more information.

All CCLD libraries are currently open for "grab and go" visits, including the Bookmobile! Be sure to return all materials to the drop box (please, do not hand them to staff). Bookmobile will place a box for returns outside of the bus. Masks covering your nose and mouth are required to enter our libraries. Curbside service is still available by request. If you are visiting the Bookmobile and do not want to enter the bus, Mrs. Kim will hand your items out the door for you.

New at Steele Memorial Library, we now have a small selection of PS2, PS4, Switch, XBOX One, and XBOX 360 games available to be checked out.

April is National Card and Letter Writing Month. In celebration, CCLD brings you artist Wynn Yarrow’s  project: More Than Words Can Say. For each of 4 weeks in April, 2021, each CCLD library will distribute  a new illustrated letter by Wynn. This project is made possible, in part, by public funds from NYSCA’s  Decentralization Program, administered regionally by The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes.

National Library Week

National Library Week

National Library Week (April 4-10, 2021) is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and library workers and to promote library use and support. The theme for 2021 National Library Week is "Welcome to Your Library" and Natalie Portman, Academy Award-winning actress, director, producer, author and activist, will lend her star power to shine a spotlight on our nation’s libraries as the honorary chair of National Library Week..

Check with your local branch for special giveaways happening at your library during National Library Week.
