Now's the time to think - seeds!

Seeds

The Steele Library is currently open for patron browsing, and now is the perfect time to think about spring planting. Our Seed Lending Library is ready to browse any time we are open, so check it out! Seed Lending is easy; visit our seed collection, check out the seeds that interest you, and bring in any seeds you harvest in the fall! Come visit the Reference Desk on the second floor at the Steele Library for more information and, to sign out some seeds!

CCLD Makerspace

CCLD Makerspace is open by appointment. Learn more and reserve a time using our booking form at ccldmakerspace.youcanbook.me. Sessions are currently limited to two people per appointment.

Equipment certifications are available for those interested in learning to use the makerspace's 3D printers and laser engravers. To schedule a session, please use the form available through the link above, select the equipment you would like to learn, and type "Certification" in the project description area.

Requests for 3D printing should be submitted online. All requests will be processed in the order that they are received. To request a 3D print, please fill out the following form: ccldmakerspace.org/3d-printing-request

Activities for Kids

3D Tulips

Book Fest is May 16, 11-2pm at Wisner Park. Join the Bookmobile for a fun takeaway craft. Everyone will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

This month at Horseheads Library, we have another Take n' Make Craft Kit. Pick up a craft packet and make your own 3D flowers.

Big Flats Library Kids Maker Club's May Kit is a Scratch Paper Stencil Drawing. Choose your design! Please call the Big Flats Library to reserve your Maker Club Kit; 562-3300.

Wild Flowers

For all of May, while supplies last: 7-12 graders can pick up your Take & Make Seed bomb kit at the Steele Library Teen Space. The Kit includes instructions and native, northeastern US, wildflower seeds. Questions? Reserve a kit? Call: 737-5080

Gourd PaintingHorseheads Library is welcoming back the popular Gourd Birdhouse Painting Kit, made by Karen Curren. Call or stop in to the Horseheads Library to register for a kit (supplies are limited). Registration ends May 12. Kits are for ages 18+.

The Big Flats Library "Take & Make" kit for May is Binder Clip Photo Holders. The kit includes: 2 binder clips, cardstock, appliqués, and glue dots. Please call 562-3300 to reserve your kit.

CCLD cardholders now have access to hoopla! Borrow movies, music, audiobooks, ebooks, comics, and TV shows to enjoy on your computer, tablet, or phone - and even your TV! With no waiting, titles can be streamed immediately, or downloaded to phones or tablets for offline enjoyment later. CCLD cardholders can borrow 4 titles each month. Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspots are available to check out from Steele Memorial Library for those in need of internet access at home. Call 733-9175 to reserve a hotspot. *You need to live in an area with cell phone reception in order for the hotspot to work at your house.*

Remote Genealogy ResearchDue to COVID constraints, the Genealogy department at Steele Memorial Library has temporarily waived its remote research fees. Email edesk@stls.org with your contact information and genealogy question. You can access Ancestry Library Edition from home, through June! Discover your family history and start your family tree. Access billions of genealogy records including Census, SSDI & Military records.
