Holiday Hours

December 23: CCLD libraries are open 9am-1pm

December 24-25: CCLD libraries are closed

December 30: CCLD libraries are open 9am-1pm

CCLD Makerspace

Tinker Lab

CCLD Makerspace is now open on Saturdays from 12:00pm - 4:00pm.

Makerspace classes are now available by request. Visit ccldmakerspace.org/classes for a list of available classes and a link to the registration page. All classes will be held at Steele Memorial Library.

CCLD Makerspace is open by appointment. Reserve a time using our booking form at ccldmakerspace.youcanbook.me. Requests for 3D printing can be made online at ccldmakerspace.org/3d-printing-request.

Big Flats Library

Snowman Ornament

Stop by the Big Flats Library any time to complete the DIY Snowman Ornament. All ages welcome! Limited to groups of up to 6.  Face coverings are required.

Stop by the Big Flats Library and complete the December Scavenger Hunt to earn a token for the prize machine!

Big Flats Library's Kids Maker Club craft this month is a handprint wreath.  Take & Make this craft at home! Please call to reserve your kit, 562-3300.

Horseheads Library

This month's take n make is a gingerbread man craft. The kits will be available all month long. This month for book club we will be honoring Tomie dePaola by reading four of his Christmas books. There will be lots of ideas for at home activities as well.

Steele Memorial Library

Instagrammable Winter Scene, Mondays & Thursdays, 5-8pm at Steele.

All month long, check out an Interactive Story! Each kit includes a library book for you to borrow and all of the supplies you need to follow along with the story or lesson plan! You can keep everything in the box, but you must RETURN THE LIBRARY BOOK.

Call the Steele Children's Department at 607-733-9174 to place a hold on an interactive story kit, while supplies last!

Once the interactive story box is checked out you will have 7 days to enjoy the story, then simply return the library book to the library.

Big Flats Library

Stop by Big Flats Library for this month's Adult Take & Make CraftYarn Wall Hanging Kit.  Pick up supplies to create your own wall hanging at home.  Kit includes yarn, wooden dowel, and cardboard. Call to reserve your kit: 562-3300 (20 kits available).

Bookmobile

Our book club meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Chapel Park in Southport at 4pm. We will continue to offer the Zoom option for anyone unable to join us or if there is inclement weather. For December we read, "I am Malala" by Malala Yousafzai, to discuss on December 14.

This month we are reading "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" by Betty Smith to discuss at the January 11th meeting.

Horseheads Free Library

Nunofelt

Call to reserve a Nunofelted Scarf making kit: 607-739-4581. The kit will include all materials needed including written instructions for making a Nunofelted or wet felted scarf. There will be a recorded video of instructions on YouTube so students may learn at their leisure.

Our "Easily Distracted by Plants" bi-weekly video series is available on YouTube. Watch the Purple-Haired Plant Lady taking care of the many plants at the Horseheads library.

Join our Lit Lovers to talk about books, both old and new. Call 607-739-4581 to register. The group will meet on Wednesday, December 8, 1-3pm. The group currently meets in-person at a member's house.

Stop by Steele this month for Take & Make crafts and the Spice of the Month kit. Details are coming soon. Keep an eye on the library events calendar for more information.

Monday, December 20, 5-8pm - Holiday Gift Wrapping - Bring your gifts to the library and wrap them here while listening to your favorite holiday tunes. You do the wrapping and we provide the rest!

Enjoy ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, streaming video, online classes, language learning, and more, from the convenience of your home! Check out the library's Featured Services page for a list of digital services that can be accessed remotely with your Chemung County Library District card.

Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspots are available to check out from Steele Memorial Library for those in need of internet access at home. Call 733-9175 to reserve a hotspot. *You need to live in an area with cell phone reception in order for the hotspot to work at your house.*

Remote Genealogy ResearchDue to COVID constraints, the Genealogy department at Steele Memorial Library has temporarily waived its remote research fees. Email edesk@stls.org with your contact information and genealogy question. You can access Ancestry Library Edition from home, through December 31! Discover your family history and start your family tree. Access billions of genealogy records including Census, SSDI & Military records.
