February 21 - Steele is open 10-6pm; other CCLD libraries are closed.
Patron Appreciation Week - We Love our Library Users!
Because we appreciate our loyal patrons, we are setting aside a special time during the week of February 14-18, 2022 to thank you. One lucky library user will win a Library Lovers Prize at each CCLD location. Ask at your branch for prize details.

CCLD Makerspace
Due to increased COVID-19 cases in our community, we are temporarily pausing programming, including appointments and classes in the Tinker Lab and Digital Media Lab.

Big Flats February Craft: Paper Heart Wreath. Stop by the Big Flats Library any time to complete the paper heart wreath craft that we have available this month. All ages welcome! Face coverings are required.
Kids, Read to Earn Tokens! Pick up your reading log sheet at the Big Flats Library! For every 10 books read earn one token for the prize machine!
Big Flats Scavenger Hunt: Animals in Winter! Search the library and find all the hidden animals!
Horseheads Library
This month's take n make is an Olaf Paper Snowglobe craft. The kits will be available all month long. This month's book for book club is "Snowflake Bentley" by Jacqueline Briggs Martin. We will continue working through the letters R, F, O, and K in storytime.
Steele Memorial Library
Programs are returning to the library! Registration is required to participate and masks must be worn at all times. Space is limited to accommodate social distancing and unregistered guests will be asked to leave. Program registration will begin the week before the event. CCLD Kids is starting a Library Lab program to provide kids and families with a space and opportunity to experience art.

Monthly Scavenger Hunt - Black History Month - Stop by the library to seek out a few famous figures and celebrate Black History Month at West Elmira. Win a prize for completing!

Adult Take & Make Kit: Homemade Soup in a Jar! Soup flavors are Chicken Noodle or Split Pea. Call 562-3300 to reserve your kit as supplies are limited (1 kit per reservation).
Adult & Teen Take & Make Craft: Mod Podge Tissue Paper Stained Glass Candy Dish. This craft is fun for adults and teens (candy not included). Call the Big Flats library to reserve your kit. 562-3300.
Bookmobile
Our book club meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Chapel Park in Southport at 4pm. We will continue to offer the Zoom option for anyone unable to join us or if there is inclement weather. For February we read "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" by Betty Smith, to discuss on February 8th. This month we will read "The Fault in our stars" by John Green to discuss in March.
Horseheads Free Library
Wynn Yarrow's craft kit for the month of February is a Beaded Necklace. Go natural with this wood and glass jewelry kit. Use a variety of techniques to decorate wooden beads. Register for this kit by calling 739-4581 or emailing zella@stls.org. Kits will be available for pickup February 8.
In February we will have our Blind Date with a Book display. Check out a book without looking at its cover. A small description will be given about the item, but the book jacket will be hidden.
Hand-in a completed and correct Valentine's Trivia Quiz by February 18 to enter to win a $50 gift card of your choice.
Join our Lit Lovers to talk about books, both old and new. Call 607-739-4581 to register. The group will meet on Wednesday, February 10, 1-3pm. The group currently meets in-person at a member's house.
Steele Memorial Library
Begins Monday, February 7 - Sugar Scrub Adult Take & Make. First come, first serve, available until gone. Grab a kit and create an exfoliating sugar scrub for face and body. Uses brown sugar, honey, vanilla extract, and extra virgin olive oil.
Begins Monday, February 21 - Spice of the Month: Cumin & Ground Coriander = Falafel Kit! Includes most of the dry ingredients you need to make a half batch of authentic falafel. Includes dried chick peas (garbanzo beans), ground coriander, cumin, and toasted sesame seeds. You will need other ingredients.

Enjoy ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, streaming video, online classes, language learning, and more, from the convenience of your home! Check out the library's Featured Services page for a list of digital services that can be accessed remotely with your Chemung County Library District card.
Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspots are available to check out from Steele Memorial Library for those in need of internet access at home. Call 733-9175 to reserve a hotspot. *You need to live in an area with cell phone reception in order for the hotspot to work at your house.*
Due to COVID constraints, the Genealogy department at Steele Memorial Library has temporarily waived its remote research fees. Email edesk@stls.org with your contact information and genealogy question. Newspapers.com and Fold3 are now available for CCLD patrons!
