National Library Week
April 23-29, 2023 is National Library Week. The theme this year is, "There's More to the Story".
Check out anytime this week at your local CCLD branch for your chance to be the lucky winner of an iPad, 3D Printer, or a $250 gift card of your choice. Bonus entries awarded for inquiring about our digital services, attending a program, or checking out an item from any of our "special" collections. For more information, call or stop by your neighborhood library.
Steele Pop Expo - April 22, 11 AM - 4 PM
Join us at Steele Memorial Library on Saturday, April 22, 11 AM - 4 PM for a FREE event! Steele Pop Expo is a celebration of comics, art, games, and pop culture!
The event will feature: Cosplay Contests, a Pokémon tournament, Live Play D&D, presentations, artists, face painting, vendors, food trucks, crafts, and more!

Friends Books Sandwiched In
The Friends of CCLD Spring 2023 Books Sandwiched In series will take place on April 14, 21, 28, and May 5 from 12-1pm at Steele Memorial Library. For more information, download the full schedule. No lunches will be for sale or food allowed during the talks.
Technology Training at CCLD Libraries

One-on-one basic computer/device instruction is available in the evenings. Let us know what you'd like to learn! Contact Steele Memorial Library (607-733-9175) or Horseheads Free Library (607-739-4581) to schedule an appointment with one of our librarians. Horseheads appointments are available on Mondays at 6:30pm; appointment days and times at Steele will vary by instructor.

Custom Engraved Pet ID Tags
Celebrate Every Day is Tag Day throughout the month of April with CCLD Makerspace by engraving identification tags for your pets. Pet owners are encouraged to take this opportunity to make sure that their pets’ tags have the most up-to-date information and are replaced if they have become scratched or difficult to read.
One tag is free per household, additional tags may be purchased for $1.00 per tag.
Supplies are limited.

Now’s the time to think - seeds!
Now is the perfect time to think about spring planting. Our Seed Lending Library is ready to browse any time we are open, so check it out! Seed Lending is easy; visit our seed collection, check out the seeds that interest you, and bring back seeds you harvest in the fall! Come visit the Reference Desk on the second floor at the Steele Library for more information and, to check out some seeds!
Activities for Adults

Join us for our Filipino Food Month Potluck program on Thursday, April 27, 6:30-7:30pm, in the Steele large meeting room. Celebrate Filipino Food Month and only cook one dish! Please register for this program by coming to the long Customer Service desk downstairs at Steele Memorial. After registering, choose a Filipino recipe from what we will have available (copied from library cookbooks). Bring your dish and a serving spoon on 4/27 and we will talk about the recipes and enjoy international cuisine. This program is intended for adults, but open to those 12 years and older.

This month we are celebrating Goofy. Stop by the Children’s Department throughout the month to watch a Goofy movie or catch episodes of Goof Troop. We have a Goofy Take and Make craft starting Monday April 3rd, or join our Thursday afternoon craft sessions to make fishing rods and binoculars inspired by Goofy’s love of camping. Thursday April 27th celebrate Arbor Day with Edible Tree Landscapes!

Our book club meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Chapel Park in Southport at 4pm. We will continue to offer the Zoom options for anyone unable to join us or if there is inclement weather. "Those Who Saved Us", by Jenna Blum book discussion will be April 11, 4pm. April book will be, "Love Walked In" by Marisa De Los Santos.

April 11, 18, 25, and May 2 - 10am - Gentle Movement Class with Tammy Wilcox. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a mat or towel for extra comfort. No registration required.
April 12, 6pm - Wynn Yarrow Wooden Flowers craft. Learn to soften, shape and dye wooden flowers and attach leaves and stems. Each participant will be able to complete more than one flower, and choose which to keep and which to contribute to a kindness and unity arrangement, a symbol of togetherness. Limit of 10.
