Library Closings

Meet the New Director
Join us on Monday, July 10, 4-6pm to meet the new CCLD director, Paul Chapman. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend, share ideas, and express any concerns. Light refreshments will be served.
Summer Reading Club

Summer Reading Club is the perfect time for all ages to see what their local library has to offer! The 2023 summer reading slogan is "All Together Now" and we are planning many fun programs and events around this theme. There will be special events, reading challenges, fun activities, and more throughout the summer months through August 4. Call or stop by your local library for specific program details.
Technology Training at CCLD Libraries
One-on-one basic computer/device instruction is available. Let us know what you'd like to learn! Contact Steele Memorial Library (607-733-9175) or Horseheads Free Library (607-739-4581) to schedule an appointment with one of our librarians.
Tinker Lab @ Steele

Join CCLD Makerspace this summer for a series of STEAM-related activities! Projects include making soap, slime, paracord bracelets, and more!
Activities will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting July 11th and ending August 17th. Each day's activity will run for its scheduled time or until supplies run out. Stop by each week to see what the craft will be.
Tuesdays, 3-4pm (Ages 10 - 13)
Thursdays, 6-7pm (Ages 6 - 9)
Children attending must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All activities will be held at Steele Memorial Library.
July 21st is National Pin Back Button Day!
Visit the Tinker Lab at Steele Memorial Library on Friday, July 21st between 12pm and 4pm to make a free button.
Supplies are limited.

Steele Memorial Library
Borrow Seeds from the 2nd Floor Reference Desk!

Borrow up to 3 packs of seeds per day (non GMO, so the plants will produce nice seeds for saving), and when you harvest your vegetables, herbs or flowers, save some seeds to bring back to the library for the next season! Follow our blog on our website, for gardening tips.
Blood Pressure Cuffs are Now Available for Checkout!
CCLD is pleased to be part of The American Heart Association initiative to lend patrons blood pressure monitoring kits. Stop by Steele to check out a blood pressure kit from the 2nd floor desk.

This month Booker's Bookworms are reading The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland. In honor of Disney's 100th Anniversary, we are showing the 1951 classic animated film Alice in Wonderland, as well as the 2010 live-action version.
Log your Summer Reading Club minutes at the Steele Memorial Library Children's Department, online, or using the READsquared App. Every minute read will turn into a Booker Buck at the end of the summer. Booker Bucks can be spent in the prize store which opens on August 5th.

Bookmobile
Our book club meets the 2nd Friday of the month at Bulkhead Hardware in Southport at 1:30pm. We will continue to offer the Zoom options for anyone unable to join us or if there is inclement weather. For the month of June we read "In Five Years" by Rebecca Serle to discuss on July 14th at 1:30pm. We will read "Seven Days of Us" by Francesca Hornak, to discuss in August.
July 16, 4-7pm - Literacy Night (camp theme) at 360 Aurora Elmira Heights. Stop by the Bookmobile for a fun game /prize.

Story time returns as Booker's Clubhouse. We will read books and have some fun activities for kids ages 5 and under. Don't forget to track your minutes to earn points. Use your points to buy prizes!
