Books Sandwiched In - Fall 2023

Save the dates for the Friends of CCLD Fall Books Sandwiched In: September 29, October 6, 13, & 20. All talks take place at 12pm. Visit ccld.lib.ny.us/friends-of-ccld, to learn more about Friends of CCLD.

Technology Training at CCLD Libraries

CCLD Makerspace

Summer Maker Series: Tuesdays & Thursdays, until August 17

Join CCLD Makerspace this summer for a series of free, STEAM-related activities!

Activities will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays until August 17th. Each day’s activity will run for its scheduled time or until supplies run out. Stop by each week to see what the craft will be.

Tuesdays, 3:00pm - 4:00pm (Ages 10 - 13)

Thursdays, 6:00pm - 7:00pm (Ages 6 - 9)

Children attending must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All activities will be held at Steele Memorial Library.

Blood Pressure Cuffs are Now Available for Checkout!

CCLD is pleased to be part of The American Heart Association initiative to lend patrons blood pressure monitoring kits. Stop by Steele to check out a blood pressure kit from the 2nd floor desk.

This month Booker's Bookworms are reading Bambi: A Life in the Woods by Felix Salten. In honor of Disney's 100th Anniversary we are showing the 1942 classic animated film Bambi.

Summer Reading Club ends on August 4th, log your reading minutes at the Steele Memorial Library Children's Department, online, or using the READsquared App. Every minute read will turn into a Booker Buck at the end of the summer. Booker Bucks can be spent in the prize store which opens on August 5th.

August Big Flats Library Craft Table -   Pony Beads & Pipe Cleaner Creations! Things you can make:  snake, flower, butterfly, bracelet with an animal charm, or create your own design! Stop by anytime!

Join the Kids Book Club at the Big Flats Library! Kids, read to earn tokens! Don’t forget to pick up your reading log sheet at the Big Flats Library!

Bookmobile

August 26, 11-2pm - Strong Kids Safe Kids at Chemung County Fairgrounds: Stop by the Bookmobile for a fun game /prize and a drawing.

Our book club meets the 2nd Friday of the month at Bulkhead Hardware in Southport at 1:30pm. We will continue to offer a Zoom option for anyone unable to join us, or if there is inclement weather. For the month of July we read "Seven Days of Us" by Francesca Hornak to discuss on August 11, 1:30pm. This month we will reading "Just the Nicest Couple" by Mary Kubica, to discuss in September.

Horseheads Free Library

Activities for Adults

Do you love miniatures? Or Dollhouses? Do you want to meet other miniature enthusiasts? Come to our first club meeting on August 28, 6pm! At the club we will discuss all things miniature and plan further miniature events. Once you see what the world of miniatures can be, you will be hooked! Light refreshments will be provided.
