Books Sandwiched In will take place: October 6, 13, & 20, 12pm at Steele Memorial Library. Visit ccld.lib.ny.us/friends-of-ccld, to learn more about Friends of CCLD and view the speaker schedule.

Fall Call for Seeds!

Hope you had a great growing season this summer! If you find that you had a surplus seeds, please share them with the Steele Memorial Library! Just bag them up and mark what type they are and their name, such as "beans, Kentucky"; we will get them ready for borrowing in the spring. And thank you!

Sciencenter passes available to check out!

Sciencenter (Ithaca, NY) passes are now available to be checked out from CCLD libraries! Each pass provides free admission to the Sciencenter for up to two adults and all children in their company. Visitors will be asked to show their own library card and photo ID, as well as the borrowed pass, in order to receive the free admission. Call or stop by your local branch, to learn more. Thank you to the Sciencenter for providing these passes!

Technology Training at CCLD Libraries

One-on-one basic computer/device instruction is available. Let us know what you'd like to learn! Contact Steele Memorial Library (607-733-9173) or Horseheads Free Library (607-739-4581) to schedule an appointment with one of our librarians.

CCLD Makerspace

Papercraft Pumpkin Boxes

Create pumpkin-themed boxes in the Tinker Lab activity area at Steele Memorial Library. Fill them with candy to hand out to trick-or-treaters or place an LED candle inside for a mini jack o' lantern decoration.

This activity will be available all month long or until supplies run out. Limit of 10 per person. To make more than 10, please bring your own cardstock. Candy, battery, and LED candle are not included.

Blood Pressure Cuffs Available for Checkout

CCLD is pleased to be part of The American Heart Association initiative to lend patrons blood pressure monitoring kits. Stop by Steele to check out a blood pressure kit from the 2nd floor desk.

There will be Halloween Cookie Decorating, a Spider Web Craft, a Halloween Magnet Craft, a Trick or Treat Scavenger Hunt, and a short movie at 6:30pm (Toy Story of TERROR! Rated G). Our book club meets the 2nd Friday of the month at Bulkhead Hardware in Southport at 1:30pm. We will continue to offer a Zoom option for anyone unable to join us, or if there is inclement weather. For the month of September we read "The Reckoning" by John Grisham to discuss on October 13, 1:30pm. We will read "The Crazy Ladies of Pearl Street" by Trevanian, to discuss next month.

Celebrate Halloween with the Horseheads Free Library! This month’s take n make is a Mickey Mouse Pumpkin craft. The kits will be available all month long. Family Story Time is working its way through the alphabet. This month we will be reading stories covering the letters D, E, and F. The make your own bear program is back with a Halloween theme. Space is limited and registration is required for this program.
