Library hours at Steele Memorial Library and Horseheads Free Library have changed for 2024. Steele is open M-Th 9-8pm, F 9-5pm, Sa 1-5pm; Horseheads will be open M-W 9-8pm, Th 9-6pm, F 9-5pm, Sa 1-5pm. These hours will be the same, year-round.
Friends Books Sandwiched In - Winter 2024
Books Sandwiched In will take place: March 1, 8, 15, 22, 12pm at Steele Memorial Library. Visit ccld.lib.ny.us/friends-of-ccld, to learn more about Friends of CCLD and view the speaker schedule.
Technology Training at CCLD Libraries
One-on-one basic computer/device instruction is available. Let us know what you'd like to learn! Contact Steele Memorial Library (607-733-9173) or Horseheads Free Library (607-739-4581) to schedule an appointment with one of our librarians.
Volunteer Tech Help is now available on Fridays at 1:15pm. Call to make an appointment with volunteer Steven, for help with your device! Steven is also able to help with assistive tech for the visually impaired (can recommend apps and services). Call 607-733-9173 (option 4) to reserve a spot.
Tablet Talk is back at Horseheads and Steele libraries! Learn to use your tablet or smartphone, in a small group setting.

Until further notice, the Tinker Lab will be closed on Saturdays. Regular operating hours throughout the rest of the week will remain unchanged.

During our March 8, 10am storytime we’ll have a special guest from the Chemung County Health Department’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Primary Prevention Program. Every child will receive a "Leo the Lion Gets Ahead of Lead" story book, a coloring book, and a Leo stuffed animal!

Our book club meets the 2nd Friday of the month at Bulkhead Hardware in Southport at 1:30pm. For the month of February we read "The Silent Patient" by Rumaan Alam to discuss on March 8th at 1:30pm. We will read "Vanishing Act", by Brit Bennett, to discuss in April.

Activities for Adults
Join our new D&D group, for ages 16+, with Game Master Zach (March 23, 1pm). This campaign will be using the 5th edition, and the table is limited to 6 Adventurers! Register now! Need a place for all your notes and school reminders? Now you can have a place to hang them and a cool piece of art too!! Bring your inner DIY side to the Horseheads Library for corkboard string art. Using tiny nails, a cool hexagon shape corkboard, colorful string and your own design you’ll have a place for all those reminders that will be sure to look great in any space!

Celebrate the beginning of spring at the Horseheads Free Library. Join us for an Easter Celebration! We will have a story time, an egg hunt, a craft, and a chance to meet the Easter bunny. This month’s take 'n make is an Easter Egg Bunny craft. The kits will be available all month long. Family Story Time is working its way through the alphabet. This month we will be reading stories covering the letters Q, R, and S as well as Ramadan, spring, and Easter.
