All CCLD libraries will be closed Saturday, May 25 & Monday, May 27 for Memorial Day Weekend. Horseheads Library will be closed on May 18 so staff can assist with Steele Pop Expo at Steele Memorial Library.

Steele Pop Expo - May 18, 11AM - 4PM

Steele Pop Expo

Our 2nd annual Steele Pop Expo will take place on May 18, 11am-4pm at Steele Memorial Library.

Steele Pop Expo is a free celebration of comics, art, games, and pop culture, for all ages! Get a free limited edition Archie comic, with exclusive event cover art, signed by artist Reilly Brown (Marvel & DC Comics artist/writer)! Other activities include: a cosplay contest, vendors, food trucks, free crafts, face painting, workshops, Pokémon tournament, & more! Steele Pop Expo offers fun for the whole family! Visit our website for more details about the event, including the cosplay contest!

Technology Training at CCLD Libraries

Volunteer Tech Help is now available on Fridays at 1:15pm at Steele. Call to make an appointment with volunteer Steven, for help with your device! Steven is also able to help with assistive tech for the visually impaired (can recommend apps and services). Call 607-733-9173 (option 4) to reserve a spot.

Tablet Talk is back at Horseheads and Steele libraries! Learn to use your tablet or smartphone, in a small group setting.

Comic Costume DIY

Get ready for the Steele Pop Expo (May 18th) by attending one of our costume craft workshops. Attendees will be provided with instructions on how to make a cape, mask, or anime-inspired headband.

This program is open to all ages. Registration is not required, however, availability will be limited by time and materials.

Nostalgia...The Wii. Teens....Lets go back in time... and play Wii games on May 21, 5:30-7:30pm! The Nintendo Wii console was first launched in the United States on November 19, 2006, for $249.99. Stop by the Big Flats Library and play on the big screen! Snacks & Beverages will be provided. Games will include, Mario Galaxy, MarioKart, Wii Sports, Raving Rabbids, Wipeout, Carnival Games, and others!

May 7, 6pm - Teen Popcorn Movie Night: Mean Girls (2024; PG-13). Popcorn & beverages will be served! (This program is intended for ages 13 and up)

Make a Mother's Day Ornament for your Mom! On Wednesday, May 8, stop by the Big Flats Library to make a special gift for Mom. This program runs from 3:30-5:00. Please call to register, 607-562-3300.

Join the Kids Book Club at the Big Flats Library! Kids, read to earn tokens. Don't forget to pick up your reading log sheet at the Big Flats Library.

Bookmobile

The Bookmobile will be at Bookfest on May 18, 10am-2pm in Wisner Park (same day as Steele Pop Expo--park once and visit both events!). Stop in to see Miss Kim for a prize.

May 27th, the Elmira Memorial Day Parade starts at 9:30am--look for the Bookmobile!

May 31st is opening night at Dunn Field! Stop by the Bookmobile for a look around before you enter the game.

Our book club meets the 2nd Friday of the month at Bulkhead Hardware in Southport at 1:30pm. For the month of April we read "Apples Never Fall" by Liane Moriarty to discuss on May 10th at 1:30pm. May's book will be, "Book of Lost Friends" by Lisa Wingate to discuss on June 7th.

Horseheads Free Library

The Horseheads Free Library will be closed on Saturday, May 18th so our staff can assist with Steele Pop Expo, taking place from 11am-4pm at Steele Memorial Library that day.
