Patron Appreciation
Patron Appreciation Week will be February 17th-20th. Each of our libraries will have a special day of thanks in appreciation of all of our wonderful patrons. Patrons can look forward to musicians, refreshments, and giveaways, to name a few. Contact your local CCLD library for more information about special programs that week.
Tinker Lab Hours Update
The Lab Central Tinker Lab at Steele Memorial Library is now open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3-7pm and Saturdays 10-2pm.

Patron Appreciation Day
Stop by Steele Memorial Library from February 17th-20th to enter our Patron Appreciation Week gift basket drawing. We will have a special Patron Appreciation Day reception on Friday, February 20th featuring music by John Manfredi from 3-4:30pm. Light refreshments will be served.

Arm Weaving
On Saturday, February 7th, 11-12:30pm, learn how to make scarves with arm weaving, the relaxing and therapeutic activity of weaving yarn with no tools other than your hands and arms. Join Jason and Victoria in the Tinker Lab, to let your creativity soar! Bring your own yarn (size: bulky, 6). Registration is required: 733-9173.
Creative Card Making

Join us on February 9th at 6:30PM for Card Tricks, a creative card making workshop. Artist Wynn Yarrow will show tricks for paper cuts, stencils, pop-up, and 3-dimensional cards. Intended for adults and teens 12 and up. Registration is required: 733-9173.
Learn to Knit
Join us for basic knitting classes on Wednesday, February 11th and Thursday, February 19th from 5-6pm (in the small meeting room) and learn how to knit a scarf. Attendees must bring their own yarn and knitting needles. Registration is required: (607)733-9173.
"So bad, it's good!" Movie Night
Join us on February 13th, 6:30pm for another installment of "So bad, it's good!" Movie Night! This month we are showing Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. As always, heckling is encouraged! The library closes at 5pm but the doors will be open to moviegoers at 6pm. Free popcorn! This program is intended for adults and teens.
TWEEN/TEEN Video Gaming
Teens & Tweens ages 9-18: play a variety of video games with Rainy Toad Gaming! Steele Library large meeting room: February 19th, 1-4pm. Registration is appreciated.
Teen Maker Night: LARP foam weapons
Teen Maker Night is Thursday, Feb 26. We will be making foam weapons for live action roll playing (LARPing) at the library in the near future! Supplies are limitied; registration is required: 733-9173.
Teen Mic Night: music, cameras and more!
Teens! On
Friday, Feb 27 (special "after hours" event) at 6pm, learn how to do interviews as a reporter--either on camera or off--with entertainment journalist Tim O'Shea. Interview singer-songwriters Francesca Harvey and Leah Santiago, who recently released their debut CD, "Edge of the Spotlight." Some of your interviews will be featured on LiveStarringYou.com, a website that features interviews by teens. The musicians will perform and Tim will talk about his writing. Tim has written 60 books for teens and is currently at work on a novel about a teen pop star. Registration is required: 733-9173.

Take Your Child to the Library Day
Saturday, Feb 7 is Take Your Child to the Library Day, and we are hosting Tanglewood and their Amazing Animal Ambassador show at 2:00. This family friendly, free show will feature lots of fun animal info and some live animals.
Valentine's Craft
Friday, Feb 13 at 3:30, kids ages 4 and up can register to come and make a special craft for Valentine's Day; make something special to give to your loved ones. Please register by calling 733-9173 or stopping by the Youth Desk.
Movie Day
School’s Out Movie Day will be on Wednesday, Feb 18 at 2:00, and we’ll be showing the PG movie, The Box Trolls. Snack included.
Storytimes
Storytimes are held on Thursdays for Ages 2 and under, and Fridays for ages over 2, both at 10:30.
Lego Club & Middle Maker Club
Lego Club is held the second Wednesday of every month, and Middle Maker Club on the first Wednesday; please call to register for these 2 programs.

Special Program - Vicie Rolling as Lear Green
On February 17, we will hold a special program, in honor of Black History Month and Patron Appreciation Day. The Big Flats Library proudly presents Vicie Rolling as Lear Green, a slave who mailed herself to freedom. Watch history come alive as Ms. Rolling brings Lear to life. This program is free to the public and we hope you will attend. Refreshments will be served and be sure to sign up for the gift basket raffle.
Storyhour & Homeschool Program
Miss Melanie will host Toddler/Preschool Storyhour on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 and Miss Becky hosts the Homeschool Program on Thursday afternoons from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Bookmobile
It is Patron Appreciation week, Feb 17th-20th, so stop by the Bookmobile; we will have M&M's for the kids and chocolates for the adults. Make sure to enter our drawing for a Library Lovers Gift Basket! Feb 6th, from 3:00-4:00, we will have a Valentine craft at the Southside Community Center. March 7th, from 10-2, the Bookmobile will be at Book Fest with scratch off bookmarks, tattoos, and prizes. Stop by Book Fest and tell Ms. Kim that you read about it in our newsletter and receive a prize!

Kitty Lit Reading Program
On February 17, 3:30-4:30pm, join the Chemung County SPCA and some of their cats and read your favorite stories to them! Practice your reading and make the kitties very happy! Garden Workshop: Pruning Basics
Join us on Tuesday, February 24 from 6:30-7:30pm, as we cover the basics of pruning, presented by Master Gardener Jabe Warren! Learn how the cuts you make or don't make influence flowering, fruit set, and plant diseases. Ornamental and fruiting plants will be covered. Space is limited. Call 739-4581 to register.

Crazy 8s After School Math Club
All month long there are sign-ups for our Crazy 8s After school math club. Grades K-2nd meet Mondays March 2 through April 20 at 3:15; 3rd-5th grades meet Mondays March 2 through April 20 at 4:15.

Have some old LEGOs lying around the house? Donate them to the library! After many requests from the public, we are hoping to start a LEGO club after the New Year but we need lots of LEGOs to start our collection. All donors will be publically recognized on our publicity for the program.

Friends of CCLD Annual Book Sale
The 2015 Friends of CCLD Annual Book Sale begins Thursday, February 5th and ends Saturday, February 14th. The hours are 10am-8pm with hours from 10am-5pm on Sunday, February 8th. The sale will take place at the Arnot Mall in the store adjacent to Bon Ton (use the Ruby Tuesday entrance). Become a Boost Tutor
ATTENTION: Retired teachers and others with teaching experience interested in volunteering to tutor children (pre-school to graduate level) with cancer or other chronic diseases in your geographic area. BOOST Tutors, affiliated with CURE Childhood Cancer Association, is looking for volunteers in the Chemung County Area to provide tutoring for these children 1 or 2 hours a week. If you are interested, please call Linda with BOOST Tutors at 585-317-7269. Please note: If you volunteer, you may not have to tutor, but will be asked to provide your email address or telephone number so you can be notified when a child needs tutoring. If you feel the child is in a location near you and requests tutoring in an area of your expertise, you can notify Linda and she will help you coordinate the tutoring.
