Summer Hours Begin May 22
May 20th will be the last Saturday that Steele Memorial Library and Horseheads Free Library are open, until Fall. Check the CCLD website for details.
Friends of CCLD Book Sale 2017
The Friends of CCLD annual book sale will take place from Thursday, May 18 to Saturday, May 27 at the Arnot Mall in the store adjacent to Bon Ton (use the Ruby Tuesday mall entrance). Sale hours are 10am-8pm except for Sunday, May 21 which will be 10am-5pm. Saturday, May 27 is bag sale day. Follow their Facebook page for updates.
Technology Training at CCLD Libraries

All classes are free and registration is required for most. To register for Steele classes call 733-9175; for Horseheads classes call 739-4581; for Van Etten classes call 589-4755 x3. No registration required for West Elmira classes. All Steele classes take place in the Technology Training Lab.

Makerspace Certification Classes
To schedule a training session for one of our certification classes (see below), please call 607-733-6809 during the Tinker Lab's open hours, or E-mail us at: labcentral@stls.org.
Digital Media Lab Certification at Steele
Become certified to use the Digital Media Lab. You must have a parent present if you are under 16. Once you have completed the certification class, you can use the Digital Media Lab at Steele independently.
3D Printer Certification at Steele
Become certified in the use of the 3D printers at the Steele Memorial Library MakerSpace. Completion of the certification process will allow you to use the 3D printers independently. Anyone under the age of 16 will be supervised in the use of the 3D printer.

Recovery Stories Dinner
On Thursday, May 11th, 4:30-6:30pm, members of the community will gather at the Steele Memorial Library to share dinner and stories of personal recovery. This Mental Health Month event will celebrate what is possible in the midst of adversity. Dinner is free and open to anyone; however, registration is a MUST for meal planning. The dinner is a collaborative effort between CCLD, the Elmira Psychiatric Center, and the Social Connection. Call 733-9173 to register.
ART JOURNEY 2017: Workshops in the fine arts for the armchair adventurer, with Wynn Yarrow
Traveling Companions, creating creatures in clay, will take place on Tuesday, May 16, 6:30-8:00 pm. Each participant will sculpt a figure, creature or animal: real or imagined.
This project is made possible, in part, with public funds from NYSCA's Decentralization Program, administered regionally by The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes.

Youth Events @ Steele
Steele Youth Services will be ending storytimes for the month of May so that we can host many Kindergarten visits and get ready for Summer Reading Club. Summer storytime will begin on Friday June 16 and end on August 25...stop by the department and celebrate Children's Book Week with a book character scavenger hunt ongoing through the month of May, find the characters and get a prize!

Big Flats
It's Movie and Popcorn Night at the Big Flats Library on May 16th at 6pm. The Library will host the live action family movie, A Mermaid's Tale, and as always, popcorn will be served. The best movies and the best popcorn are at the Big Flats Library.
Ladies (and Gentlemen's) Night Out returns on May 23rd at 6pm with an arm knitting class. Learn the latest craze in knitting as we make an infinity scarf. Participants are required to register and provide their own SUPER BULKY WEIGHT YARN. Stop in or call 562-3300 to register. Space is limited so call to register today.
Bookmobile
The Bookmobile will be at the Headstart carnival on May 20th from 11-2. We will be making character buttons with the button maker.
We will be reading Harmony by Carolyn Parkhurst for our June book club meeting. Join us for this month's discussion of Damaged by Lisa Scottoline on May 19th at our Bulkhead stop.
